Hello, seems the PC version is a port from the console users. Thus some settings in the game is not optimized for PC users. Ive been able to find some settings that will make Bad Company more pleasant then it already is.
Vertical Field of view (FOV)
The default FOV seems to be set for TV resolutions (FOV 55), thus making your view "zoomed" on a PC monitor with higher rez. I can agree that i felt that the game always been a little tight and narrow.
1. Figure out your in-game resolution, desirably your native one. i.e mine is 1680x1050 @ 60hz 16:10
2. Use the Bad Company 2 FOV calculator, found at [link] . Your resolution should show up automatically, if its wrong compared to what you use ingame you must alter it. Press the calculate butten and your vertical FOV should show up in bold text. i.e Calculated vertical FOV setting: 65
3. Take your FOV number and find your "settings.ini" for Bad Company 2. For XP users its: "X:\Documents and Settings\yourname\My documents\BFBC2"
4. Open your "settings.ini" with notepad and find the line for FOV. Default is "Fov=55", change the number to the number given by the FOV Calculator. Save settings and have fun.
Additional notes: If you want you can raise your FOV even more, but having the risk of getting "fish eye" if turned up to much. This tweak is also supported by officials at EA and is not considered as cheating.
You can also look at some other settings hidden from you, i.e you have a option for sound quality. The default is set to low (Found at first line under "[Sound]" @ "Quality=low"). Its set at low for wider user compatibility, if you have a X-Fi or other gamer oriented sound card you can set this to high to get noticeable better sound quality. If your sound card doesn't support it you will notice a performance drop.
All settings changed in your "settings.ini" can be reverted if you enter options in game. If you suspect that it has, open your "settings.ini" and look. You dont want to change settings in your file while the game is booted!!.
If you find anymore tweaks for this game, please post them if their supported by EA and Dice.
The above info was found at the official Bad Company 2 forums.
Because real men dont lay down with their ass up, its a trap. But for real, i kinda missed that to at start. Not so much now, the game gets a little faster with less people crawling around. And the prone always felt bugged in most games
Ah ok I thought I did some mistake in the command setting I agree with Joe , I hated too a lot of people do that like dolphin... but the real snipers and the real heavy machinegunners lay down on the ground when the shot too ( if we talk about real ) ... For about BC2 I think that it's good that u can't lay down 'cause it gives the game faster but also 'cause maps are huge and there are a lot of spots where u can snipe and shot getting covering... if u lay down too... omg! This is a very very good team play game. Image: http://badhqclan.com/stats/signature/index-2673390917-0-g.png
There are some differences in the several sound modes that are selectable in options. The 2 ones mostly used seems to be the default HIFI and Wartapes, the difference is mostly ambient sounds, explosions, echoes and muffling.
HIFI works great, gives you a balanced sound level on everything. Wartape kinda takes that to the next level, it can be a little overkill at sometimes but ive gotten used to it now.
Here is a few videos to show the difference between HIFI and Wartapes.
